The National Youth Activity Team Tournament (NYATT) is the most popular youth event at the All American Quarter Horse Congress. State and regional Quarter Horse Associations across the U.S. and Canada form teams consisting of at least four youth that compete in Barrel Racing, Horsemanship, Hunter Under Saddle, Hunt Seat Equitation, Reining, Showmanship and Western Pleasure.
Only contestants 18 years of age and younger (as of January 1st), that are sponsored by an association affiliated with AQHA and/or recognized by the NYATT committee, are eligible to show in NYATT events. Teams must consist of a minimum of four youth members and a maximum of 12 members, with no more than two members competing in each of the NYATT classes.
How to Enter
Youth wishing to compete should contact their state, provincial or regional Quarter Horse association’s youth advisor regarding entry fees and additional team requirement information. Entries are accepted only from youth team advisors, and are due August 25th. These entries must be made on a separate NYATT-specific entry form that is available by contacting Joanne Taylor, at (740) 943-2346, ext. 127 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Team advisors should also contact Kelsey for any additional information. Official 2016 NYATT Guidelines coming soon.
The top fifteen places in each event receive awards and points. First place receives fifteen points, second fourteen points, and so on. The top six overall teams will receive tournament trophies. The winners of each class receive awards, and the top fifteen youth in each event receive medallions.
