Tribute to Longtime Friend of the Congress Bruce Walquist

The Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA) and All American Quarter Horse Congress join the entire equine and American Quarter Horse industry in mourning the loss of Bruce Walquist, of Cleburne, Texas, following a horse-related accident.

Bruce was an accomplished professional horsemen for more than 30 years, training and showing many Congress champions, as well as numerous AQHA, NSBA, and PHBA world champions and futurity champions in Halter and All Around events. Bruce specialized in training, sales, and lessons with clients in the AQHA all around events, and he held judges' cards with the American Quarter Horse Association, National Snaffle Bit Association, and the World Conformation Horse Association. His clients hold over a dozen AQHA world and reserve world championship titles.

Bruce was a longtime supporter of the All American Quarter Horse Congress, competing in Columbus and judging the Congress for a number of years.

Bruce was well-known for his positive and contagious attitude, his encouraging words, and his eye for a great horse. He was a man of great faith and had a strong love for his family, friends, and the horse industry.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Cindy; daughter and accomplished Non Pro exhibitor Whitney Walquist Vicars; and son-in-law Craig Vicars, who worked alongside Bruce in the training business.
