Two Reining Majors Become One

The Ohio Quarter Horse Association (OQHA) is proud to announce a multi-year partnership with the All Star Reining Stakes to bring their lucrative program to the All American Quarter Horse Congress, the world’s largest horse show.

Beginning at the 2024 Congress, Congress futurity and ancillary reining classes will now also offer All Star Reining Stakes futurity and derby classes, to be held concurrently.

“Friends of the Congress Reining, through the leadership of Rick Clark and Bob Santagata, has revitalized the discipline of reining at the Quarter Horse Congress,” says OQHA CEO Justin Billings. “The opportunity to partner with the All Star Reining Stakes program will take that momentum to the next level by doubling our purse sizes and consolidating events during an already busy season. Futurity and derby horses alike will now compete for record payouts at the Congress, estimated at $750,000!”

The goal of the All Star Reining Stakes program is to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships between breeders, stallion owners, and competitors. Through the partnership, eligible horses may also enter the All Star Reining classes in addition to their corresponding Congress classes. For more information about nominating your stallion or enrolling a prospect in the All Star program, please visit www.allstarreiningstakes.com.

The first payment for the Congress NRHA Open Reining Futurity is due April 1. Entries for other Congress and All Star reining classes are due August 25. All Star entries are required to enter the corresponding Congress class. For more information, please visit www.quarterhorsecongress.com.
