Congress is Back!

Shows throughout the country are experiencing a resurgence in entries and participation with COVID-19 restrictions slowly lifting in certain states. One show that has entrants clambering to come back is the All American Quarter Horse Congress. The largest single breed-horse show in the world was cancelled last year due to the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s event promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Over $3 million in cash and prizes are set to be awarded from September 28th through October 24th in Columbus, Ohio. Thirty-five new classes have been added to the roster. The general theme arising for the 2021 event is inclusion with a big emphasis on growth.

Taylor Staus, new Marketing and Communications Director for the Ohio Quarter Horse Association and the All American Quarter Horse Congress, is willing to share some insight on exciting preparations for this year’s event.

“We’re up over 100 room nights for hotels,” she says. “People are eager. We’re expecting the biggest Congress we’ve ever had this year. It’s exciting to be a part of Ohio Quarter Horse and the All American Quarter Horse Congress.”

As it currently stands, the event will not be requiring masks, but show attendees may certainly wear them if desired. Hand sanitizing stations will be available throughout the grounds.

“We’re taking all precautions and working closely with the COVID-19 task force. We have over 16,000 bottles of hand sanitizer that we will be distributing to each exhibitor at check-in,” she says.
