Honoring Kenneth Roberts

The All American Quarter Horse Congress honored one of its own, recognizing Kenneth Roberts for 18 years of service as a ring steward and judge’s shuttle driver.

When Kenneth started raising American Quarter Horses in the early 1970’s in Dayton, Ohio, it wasn’t long before he started attending the All American Quarter Horse Congress. In fact, Trainer Rusty Dare showed one of Kenneth’s horses in the Congress Two Year Old Western Pleasure and placed in the top ten. Kenneth showed in Amateur Western Pleasure at the Congress in 1979, and he put an Open and Amateur Register of Merit on his show horse. In addition to his passion for horses, Ken also proudly served our country in the Marine Corps band, and he is a Vietnam veteran.

In 2002, Kenneth was asked to join the Congress staff as a judge’s shuttle driver and ring steward, and he has been working with us ever since. Kenneth is known for his warm smile and never-ending work ethic. As one of his Congress coworkers said, he’s one of those people you can always count on.

You would never know it to look at Kenneth, but he will celebrate his 80th birthday next September, so he will officially retire as a Congress worker at the conclusion of this year’s show. Please join us in recognizing Kenneth Roberts for a job well done!
