For Makala Myers, working with trainers, Valerie and Jason Kiphart, has helped her accomplish so many goals and dreams in such a short amount of time. “They are worthy of this because not only are they amazing trainers, but they are also amazing people and friends.” Makala also says that one of the things she admires most is how they help many people in the industry. “They will help anyone they can, and they are the kind of trainers and competitors that the horse industry needs.”

Makala grew up in Ohio, and the Quarter Horse Congress has always been a part of her life. Her dream was to compete and place. After showing in 2018, she decided she wanted to do something that would help make her more competitive to reach her goal. This was when she sent her gelding to Valerie and Jason. “In 2019, I hauled with Valerie and Jason to go to my second Quarter Horse Congress, but this time with the help and knowledge of people who were successful every year in the barrel racing industry.” After Makala’s run, she realized she ran a whole second faster than the previous year. “When I realized I had placed, I started to cry because I was so happy. I could not have done it without the amazing help of Valerie and Jason.”
