With trainer John Roberts for the past three years, Terry Garrett has indeed grown as a rider because of him. “I have learned how to have total body control of the horse with both leg and hands, learning to apply pressure and when to release. There is always something to learn, and it sure helps when you have a professional such as John Roberts.”

Terry explains that John is in the saddle from daylight to dark and is devoted to the time he spends with each horse. He expects nothing less than excellence, while still allowing the horse to make mistakes, correct them, and always end on a good note. “He is a family man, quiet, and is never easy to lose his temper. I have admired many horsemen and been to many demonstrations, which gives me enough knowledge to know the quality of trainer John Roberts is.”

John started training Terry’s horse in the Ranch Riding, and at the Congress last year had a Top 5 finish. Terry’s ride with Eli felt lacking, so they are looking forward to the Congress in 2021 to make mends, all with John’s help every step of the way.
